The Shala River only shows itself to people willing to reach it by water — there's no road that gets you the whole way. That's what drew us to this stretch of the Albanian Alps in the first place: a place still shaped more by the fjord than by tourism.
What began as a single daily route from Shkodra grew, trip by trip, into a full set of ways to reach the river — from Komani Lake, from Fierze, from Tirana, and as multi-day journeys into Theth and Valbona for travelers who want the mountains as well as the water.
We still keep it small on purpose. Every boat is captained by someone who knows this water personally — where it's calm enough to swim, which coves stay quiet at midday, and when the light on the cliffs is worth slowing down for.
